Sylvania’s European craftsmanship
Sylvania’s R&D and manufacturing base in Europe means we can offer all our customers the very best service for our
best-in-class products. In a highly dynamic and fast moving marketplace, we are well equipped to deliver innovative LED
lamp products to the market quickly and react speedily to market demands – providing customers with short-lead times.
What sets us apart from competitors is our R&D expertise in optics, quality electronics, heat management and unique
product design. Our factories combined posses over 80 years of experience in light source engineering and in October
2011, Sylvania became the first factory in Europe to commence manufacture of LED retrofit lamps. Our European LED
production has since expanded to include a wide variety of products.
We produce lamps in the following European facilities:
Tienen – Belgium
Belgium often conjures up thoughts of chocolate and waffles but Sylvania is putting Belgium on the map for other
reasons. Sylvania launched the original GU10 halogen lamp over 15 years ago at the Tienen factory and built its name
on this ground-breaking lamp. The company is increasing production of its class-leading lamps at its factory in Tienen,
offering customers the very best in European manufacturing and product innovation. Key products from our Tienen fac-
tory include the RefLED Coolfit MR16 575 lm and RefLED Superia ES50 345 lm.

Erlangen – Germany
Sylvania has been manufacturing lamps at its site in Erlangen, Germany since 1968; and has recently expanded the facil-
ity to accommodate production of the new ToLEDo tubes. German manufacturing is synonymous with innovation and
quality and Sylvania’s site at Erlangen certainly lives up to this reputation. Going forward, Sylvania will continue to build
on these credentials with several new and exciting LED lamp innovations. Key products of our Erlangen factory include
the ToLEDo Superia Tube.
